Overseeing the division's financial and accounting functions, Leara builds the financial foundation required to meet the government clients' demanding performance and system and service expectations. In addition to focusing the division's accounting operations on its government business, she oversees budgeting; financial analysis and forecasting; balance sheet management; tax compliance; and business insurance activities. She also helps implement standardized financial reporting procedures, resolve financial reporting issues, plan for growth, assess capital requirements, and establish economic objectives and policies.
Expertise
Leara has over 24 years of accounting experience. During that time, she
developed expertise in such areas as treasury and cash management, shareholder
relations, SEC reporting, acquisition, due diligence, and tax compliance.
In addition, she developed and implemented accounting policies and procedures,
as well as the internal controls needed to support them.
While working her way up from accountant to chief financial officer,
Leara held positions with telecommunications companies, government
contractors, and manufacturing firms. Most recently, she was consulting
director for finance at OneMain.com, an internet start-up that went
public in 1999. In that post, she handled the financial reporting of
nine subsidiary companies. She was also vice president of finance for
Cuisine Solutions, an international manufacturer and retailer of food
and catering services. Prior to taking her current position, she was
vice president of accounting/controller/treasurer for EMCOR Facilities
Services.
Leara holds a bachelor's degree in accounting from Manchester College
(IN). A certified public accountant (CPA), she is a member of the American
Institute of CPAs and the Maryland Society of CPAs.
The Personal Side
Leara is married and has one son. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoys boating, traveling, reading, and listening to music.
